The Zurich wetland system was the first reed bed installed for treatment of glycol in the world; installed in 1995.
The inlet concentration was estimated to be 6,100 mg/l COD while outlet concentrations average 45 mg/l COD (below the required 70 mg/l). The average flow rate through the system is 70 m3/day.
